Pernambuco Partners

This extremly dense and very hard wood is used to make bows. It grows in Brazil's Atlantic Forest and is recognized as an endangered spieces.

Maple Partners

The back, ribs, and neck of an instrument are carved of this fabulous wood. The flamed maple gives this "tiger" look to most of the violin backs.

Spruce Partners

The top plate of an instrument is made using this wood, which is the first to receive the vibrations caused by the friction of the bow onto the strings. Spruce then acts as a springboard, to transmit these vibrations to the back - they are finally expelled through the f-holes to produce a sound.
