THE MAKERS' FORUM
PLATFORM DEDICATED TO THE
MAKING OF CONTEMPORARY INSTRUMENTS AND BOWS
A trained violist, Guillaume Turgeon began a career as a cabinetmaker before beginning his training at the National School of Violinmaking (Québec, Canada). After obtaining his degree in 2007, he joined the workshop of Pier Bergeron, where he spent a few years deepening his knowledge of setting-up, repairing and restoring instruments. His apprenticeship continued in the company of the violinmakers Jean-Benoit Stensland and Thérèse Girard, with whom he still collaborates. It is with them that he keeps perfecting his methods of violinmaking, adopting among others, purfling after closing the box.
