Canadian bow maker Emmanuel Bégin began his training at the age of 14 under the guidance of his father, Louis Bégin, in Montréal. He later honed his craft in Lille, France, working for several years alongside Yannick Le Canu, before returning to Montréal to establish his own workshop, where he now creates bows for musicians worldwide.
Emmanuel has earned multiple accolades from the Violin Society of America (VSA) competitions. In 2012, he received a Gold Medal for a cello bow and Certificates of Merit for both violin and viola bows. At the 2014 VSA competition, he was awarded Certificates of Merit for a viola bow and a cello bow, along with a Gold Medal for a violin bow, and an additional Gold Medal for a bass bow made in collaboration with Eric Fournier. In 2016, after receiving Gold Medals for his violin, viola, and cello bows, Emmanuel was honored with the title Hors Concours by the VSA, recognizing his exceptional craftsmanship.
