Sibylle Ruppert

Sibylle graduated in 1983 from the Welsh School of Violinmaking.

In the following 4 years she worked for Gerriet Groth in Wiesbaden and Martin Koch Löbner near Tübingen ,Germany.

Having emigrated with violin maker Gregory Walke to his native Canada, they opened their workshop in 1988 in Paisley, Ontario.

While repair work for city shops featured large in the early years , she has made her own instruments every year of her working life and has produced more than 40 cellos. Currently she services string instruments in the region, but concentrates on creating her own violins and cellos.  She tracks the development of her instruments in the hands of customers and seeks the feed back of accomplished players.

She enjoys collaborations and is excited to be part of the “forum des fabricants”, the association of Canadian Violinmakers with its roots in the gregarious and cosmopolitan Quebec luthier culture.
